We went up to Michigan this weekend to visit Mark’s parents and celebrate Peter’s birthday (again).

Today is yet another rainy day here in Ohio. It was an inside day too, with no where to go. Those are always tough since both these boys have lots of energy. So while they both nap for a short while (emphasize short) I’ll throw up a few pictures from the last few days…
This is wrong on a lot of levels, but I can’t help it. Joey is our little trash picker. Our recycle can is just an open bin next to the trash can that gets emptied every night so he tends to help himself to the contents. He found one of daddy’s left overs last night.

Joey loves to climb on things. Peter uses him as an excuse to get away with also climbing on things. Here are my trouble makers coloring all over the play table. Who me?
Oh yes, we got snow again just this past weekend. We’re suppose to get flurries on Friday morning again. Yuck! Peter helps Mark shovel the driveway. He was on headlight duty I guess.
The boys are pretty cuddly after nap. And then they usually end up wrestling. Joey gets his final revenge. “Ha, right in the eye!” Don’t worry it all ended well with giggles and marshmallows.
The weather report said it was suppose to be 47 degrees yesterday. They lie! I waited all afternoon for it to get up to 40. We were desparate to get out of the house. So we bundled up and jumped into the bike cart and off we went to the playground. After a few minutes everyone was shivering and we decided to come home.

Did you eat your fasnacht yesterday? (Mark calls them paczkis but what does he know :op ) Don’t take Joey’s offer seriously. He takes it back at the last second and stuffs it in his mouth. Little stinker.
And last but not least my morning inside today was filled by playing with every last toy in the play room. This is currently Joey’s favorite.
I’m too lazy to get the memory card out of the camera to load pictures so a story will have to do for today.
We have been prepping Peter for a trip to the dentist for a few weeks now. We tell him what the dentist will do and that he should brush his teeth extra well so the dentist will be proud. Now I just have to get off my lazy butt and make an appointment. Peter is making it a point to remind me quite often. So here’s the conversation we had at dinner tonight….
P: I want to go to the dentist now.
J: I know Peter, mommy has to make an appointment before we go.
P: I can try to make an appointment.
J: Oh yea. That would be great. They’re going to ask you some important questions though. Like what’s your name?
P: Peter (very loud and a hand in the air)
J: and where do you live?
P: Ohio (same enthusiasum)
J: and what’s your phone number?
P: (a few seconds of thought) ABC’s
J: and what’s your address?
P: (look a bit confused then looks down at his shirt and points) I have stripes on.
J: (nearly falls off chair laughing at response – it doesn’t help that Joey was clapping at the response in the background) good I’ll make an appointment tomorrow.

I guess the one advantage to Joey getting up at 5:45 every morning is that……well….nope I can’t think of any good reason. I’m just tired.
Joey is very resourceful. The couch was obviously in need of some serious cleaning. ‘Don’t worry mom – I got this one.’ Joey has been showing us all the amazing uses of toilet paper.
Joey always continues to relocate items. Is that a manatee in my dishwasher? (For those who are wondering – the manatee is a christmas ornament that was misplaced while putting the tree away. Apparently, it was not so much misplaced as waiting for the perfect moment to reappear.)
Peter got to go to Toys R Us for his birthday with a $3 coupon and $3 from aunt Mary and uncle Don. He chose a wooden car he could decorate.

Thanks to a wonderful birthday package from Ruru – Peter has an enormous Thomas the Train balloon. (Enter gritted smile here). When the package arrived the balloon was not inflated so it had to be taken to the store to do so. Luckily our local grocery store offers this service, as it is similar to a super walmart for those of you not familiar with Meijer. Anyway, upon inflation of this helium creation Peter was sold. The balloon is like his new pet. It eats with us and sleeps with him. Joey can’t lay one finger on the string without there being a total melt down.
So about this picture, one of the other great things about Meijer is ‘Sandy’. A riding pony that only costs a penny. This moment had every grandmother and mother in a 60’ radius smiling and laughing at us. For those of you who are wondering – Thomas had a good ride on Sandy. Peter will tell you all about it! It’s almost worth starting a blog – The adventures of Thomas the balloon.

If anyone is wondering – that’s what Joey just told me. I thought it was interesting enough to let you all know. :) Joey is cruising around like he owns the place and relocating items at his pleasure. Markers in the fridge, cars in the sofa, anything under his bed, and he just figured out how to put food down his shirt at dinner. Oh the joy! His two front teeth are taking their good ol time which makes nights a little restless.
Peter is excited about the few sunny moments we are getting. We took a walk around the neighborhood yesterday and he was so happy to ride his tricycle! The poor boy seriously needs a bike, he looks like a clown on that little thing. We’re working on it though. Hopefully craigslist or some sort of garage sale pulls through for us.
Joey’s other joy is his discovery of the back part of the house. Who knew this place had stairs?! Needless to say, he cries every time the kitchen door is shut to get down there. (it reminds me of ruru’s basement) Part of the fun is spinning in the chair upstairs too..
