What a day!! Thank you so much to each person who made this day so special for Joey! Every card and note and little gift made a huge difference today. He was so surprised at all the birthday wishes he received!
The day started with a few balloons. Mark and I tied a balloon to each card and gift that arrived in the mail before Tuesday morning. Joey danced around playing with the balloons and opening cards and gifts.
He loved trying to guess who they were from by how they were decorated or the handwriting on the front (Sorry Courtney and Mallory – he picked yours out from a mile away!) As soon as he saw the glitter in one card he said, “This has to be from Mackenzie :)”
Kim, Sudan, Tunisia, and Mali – Thank you for the oragami bugs! What an awesome idea. He already has picked out which ones he wants to try tomorrow!
Super cool science stuff from the super cool neighbors. Winston, we have our eyes on you too! Bellies are coming your way!
Who else would send you a silly singing pink monster card but your amazing principal! tehehehe. This is the first reaction. Soon they were all dancing around to the goofy tune it sings.
Of course, the brothers were excited to join the fun. “Open this one next Joey!”
It was still a school day so we got some work done in the morning. Then had lunch with some friends! Thanks Ally and Cate and Jack!
And then the mail came….MORE CARDS!!

Our sidewalk and driveway were well decorated with love from friends and neighbors. Thanks Dunlaps and Mallory!
After a matinee movie, Joey and Dad went on a bike ride to test out his new biking gloves (thanks Uncle Dave!). We enjoyed Dominoes for dinner and, of course, ice cream cake for dessert!
We built a fire and the kids ran around the back yard with sparklers until it got cold and dark. Thanks to the Kennings for the Lighthouse flashes and the awesome music from across the cove!!
How lucky and blessed we are to have such an amazing 10-year-old surrounded by incredible friends and family to make this day one he will never forget! Thank you again to everyone. Each note was so special and will be enjoyed for many weeks to come! (If you don’t see it on the board it’s because it is on his desk!)
