Kalahari with Mark’s family (Tim Sarah Mandy Andrew and us!)  For those who don’t know, Kalahari is an enormous indoor water park about 15 minutes from us.

One sign that you’ve been on the phone too long on a rainy morning is when two little BOYS raid your underwear drawer. Hmmm…

A little catch up

The days are still a little up and down around here, so only the necessary is getting done. So now it’s time to play a little catch up.

Pop pop and Ruru came to visit.  We all went to Put-In-Bay for the day.

What lives under your couch?

This morning, in preparation for our weekend guests, the boys and I began to clean the house top to bottom.  (I say began because I am now sitting to eat lunch and have completed only 3 rooms. Hmmm. I also have come to the conclusion that only one room can truly stay clean and a time when there are two little boys present.)  So those of you who are visiting, please know it was clean at one point, it just never stays that way.

So, what lives under your couch?  I’ll tell you what lives under ours…

37 ping pong balls, 2 golf balls, 1 ball with holes, 6 small jingle bells, 1 hockey puck, 1 hockey stick

8 cars, 4 trains

2 dominoes, 2 rubber bands, 1 eye patch, 2 elefun butterflies, 2 books

6 square blocks, 8 blocks of assorted shapes

enough popcorn kernels to pop a small snack bowl of popcorn

3 pens, 1 marker, 3 crayons, 1 Jake and Neverland Pirates dvd case

1 pair of pajama shorts (clean I think), 2 t-shirts, and 1 sock

and, oh yea,  whatever I scraped off my flip flop (maybe a raisin or possibly a smushed nurtigrain bar)

I think that’s more than some closets!  I think the best part of the whole process was when the couch was initially pulled away from the wall the first thing Peter said was, “See mommy I told you Joey put my block under the couch.”

Seriously kid!  The 60 other things don’t phase you?? Just the one block your brother probably accidently kicked under there when you were building a block tower?  That’s what you see? Yikes!  Talk about selective eye sight.

Please don’t tell me the floor under your couch is clean.  That will make me feel bad.

It’s been pretty hot around here so we stay cool inside by building block towers.  A LOT of block towers.

Up late

The other night Joey decided he wasn’t sleepy.  So, he got up and was helping daddy work.

Apparently, daddy looked like he was really working hard.  So Joey thought maybe a few dinosaurs would make the job easier.   Oh yea, and a bulldozer.

On another note, I love listening to what is going through Peter’s mind.  On the way home from the store today, Peter asked, “ Mommy, is 30 in the middle?”

I replied, “In the middle of what?”

“In the middle of all the numbers.”

My response, “Well, I guess it’s in the middle of 20 and 40.”

(small bit of silence)

Peter, “I think it’s just in the middle of all the numbers.”

“ok.”

(I’m learning sometimes it’s easier just to agree than try to explain.)
